About Me

m i l l e r

I am a lover of all things beautiful and functional. I am in my element tapping into my creativity, innovation and eye for design.

As a mum myself, I have personally experienced the transition that occurs within your heart, head and home. I truly understand how time-poor you feel and how overwhelming it can be not knowing where to start when you want to make some changes.

Before dancing over to the design world, I worked for over a decade as a child and family counsellor with a focus on promoting children’s social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing. This positions me perfectly to think about how children can be supported to thrive in their homes. Through my understanding in developmental psychology, I know how to design enriching spaces for children that are also easy on parents’ eyes.

My passion is cultivating spaces that bring family together and reflect personality, values and priorities. I want your home to function and serve it’s many purposes. I want it to be flexible to the ever-changing needs of your family. I want you to feel comfortable and energised, not on edge.

My home represents my safe haven – to me, it’s much more than just a physical space. I hope that’s why you’re here too.

WHAT I WILL DO:

  • Make selections for your home that are practical, durable and comfortable.
  • Utilise mainstream and affordable brands, like IKEA, without shame.
  • Cheer for flatpack!
  • Answer your calls and write back to your emails – no ghosting here!
  • Explain my process for making a space more child-friendly, so that you are empowered to maintain it and foster your family home going forward.

WHAT I WON'T DO:

  • Suggest a white fabric couch for your main living area which is used by children and pets.
  • Ignore your budget constraints and suggest you buy a $7,000 pendant light.
  • Design your home to look like it’s ready for sale (ie. staged and impossible to live in!).
  • Overcharge you for my expertise.

Mission & PRINCIPLES

This graphic helps me put into words what my vision and mission is.

I have you, my client, at the centre. Always. I take the time to hear what you want and need and for your values and priorities to be included in every single decision.

The choices we make around furniture and furnishings will focus on the next ring: children feeling connected, like they belong, that play is prioritised, and that they are given ample opportunity to learn and practice being independent and responsible. These things help both the children and the adults in a home to thrive and flourish.

Finally, my overarching principles (what I stand for!) are: Functionality, Flexibility and Inclusivity. Your family home needs to work for you day in, day out. It needs to be adaptable to the changing needs of your family members. AND interior design and styling needs to be accessible to all - we all deserve a home that we are proud of, and that makes us feel safe and secure.
