This family reached out during a period of significant change, having moved into a new home while also adjusting to life with two young children.
The house was larger than their previous home, and many spaces were either unfinished or not being used effectively. At the same time, they felt unsure about their style and found it difficult to make decisions, particularly around larger purchases and artwork.
With a newborn in the mix, time and energy were limited, and the process of furnishing and setting up the home felt overwhelming.
My role was to provide clarity and direction so they could move forward with confidence. I developed layouts for key areas including the living room, playroom and studio, and sourced furniture and artwork to bring personality and cohesion into the home. The focus was on creating spacea that felt both practical for young children and reflective of the family’s identity.
The first stage of the project gave the family a much clearer sense of direction and helped them establish a home that felt more complete and easier to live in.
They later re-engaged me as their children grew and their needs shifted again. The second stage focused on updating the children’s bedrooms, moving away from baby-focused spaces and creating rooms that reflected their developing personalities and supported greater independence.
This included refining layouts, selecting new furniture and furnishings, and ensuring the spaces would continue to work as the children got older.
This project is a good example of how homes evolve over time, and how ongoing support can help families adapt their spaces as life changes.
